What was the relationship between Jennifer Giblini and Greg Giblini? Were they on friendly terms, lovers, etc? Is she still involved in Rosebud? Was there any reason for Jennifer to be jealous of Valerie?

Response:
Jennifer Giblini and is still involved in Rosebud. She has not been questioned.
Could she have been involved with Greg Giblini? Was there a connection between Jennifer Giblini and the victim? Two compelling questions that will be answered.
Thank you.

Wed Aug 30 04:47:02 1995

Was any of the other blood at the crime scene DNA tested to see whether the blood on the cat matched any in the residence

Response:
We are awaiting test results.

Tue Aug 29 21:32:29 1995

Can you people not read? There was no evidence that sex took place prior to the murder. Consequently, the condoms were not used as protection. In fact, it was suggested in one of the previous answers that the condoms might have been used for storage (as in drugs).

Response:
Thank you for continuing to hammer that issue home.

Tue Aug 29 05:35:59 1995

Doesn't it seem strange that the victim's purse contained a RECENT prescription of birth control pills, and yet there was evidence of condom use in the bedroom? In light of this, what can be concluded from the video showing the prime suspect buying said condoms? Was he not her boyfriend, and if so, wouldn't he have known she was on the pill? So why was he buying condoms? This question, together with the RFLP analysis of the human blood found on the cat, suggests that the killer was in fact NOT the primary suspect, but the so-called unidentified third man. Or at the very least, there were two assailants: the primary suspect and the unidentified third man.

Response:
The DNA test reults are the key to answer your question. We were told a report will be ready the 1st week of October.

Sun Aug 27 15:13:26 1995

This is very interesting. Good luck in capturing the killer!

Sun Aug 27 10:49:01 1995

Dear sirs, I think you guys are great in putting this on the web. It's "AMW" gone multimedia. We will probably see a lot more of this in the future. All police departments establishing a home page on the net. The links covering unsolved crimes on through to various public relations projects will work wonders for law enforcement. Will "AMW" profile the case as well, or has it already been featured? Good luck in putting this case down.

Response:
We have been contacted by America's Most Wanted. They have not scheduled the case for investigation.

Sun Aug 27 01:23:03 1995

If she was on birthcontrol pills, why the condoms? Unless she was having sex with someone other than her boyfriend?

Response:
There are many possible scenarios. Not all involve infidelity. Read the reader comments for some excellent analysis of this issue.

Thu Aug 24 20:15:12 1995

Excellent site! 1. The intentionally spattered blood would seem to indicate an *attempt* to make this look like a crime of passion. 2. The one thing that really jumped out at me about this case was the HDTV connection. Has an HDTV format been selected yet? Wither this goes could create a HUGE pot of money for everyone with a piece of the chosen technology.... 3. Looks to me like the girl was just in the way of whoever was after whatever was on the computer...

Response:
HDTV is in extreme infancy. There is little known about this technology that is available to us. You are correct in assuming its financial value. William Giblini was a millionaire.

Thu Aug 24 17:38:08 1995

Do any of the Giblini brothers own (registered or perhaps just witnessed by friends or aquainances) a .22? Who is the most likely person for them to go to get a .22 if not a gun shop?

Response:
The Giblini's were all avid squirrel hunters. They acquired this skill during their childhood in Tennessee. William and Tom Giblini both have extensive gun collections. Greg Giblini was not known to own a weapon.

Thu Aug 24 14:00:06 1995

According to the song quote from the letter to Greg's mother. .."never squeal on the pusher,Don't lie to your mother." it can be assumed the letter to his mother took care of the second part of the quote, however is there any evidence either Valerie,William or Greg was a drug dealer?Maybe he felt pressure to squeal on somebody or he felt somebody was going to squeal on him.

Response:
I've listen to that song over and over. There is little to suggest drug dealing. But, the squealing line fascinates me. Who? Why?

Thu Aug 24 12:58:43 1995

Is there evidence to suggest that the condom(s) were used for storing drugs?

Response:
No, they might have held anything.

Wed Aug 23 22:32:31 1995

...why all the matches in Valerie's purse (no signs of cigarettes mentioned). as for the Prozac, was this a new prescription or renewal? prozac takes 4 - 6 weeks before it's effects are felt. One more question, if she was disfigured, how was it proven that it was Valerie's body?

Response:
1-The victim smoked Marlboros. None were found at the crime scene.
2-The prescription was recent.
3-No comment can be made regarding the victim's face. She was, however, positively identified.

Wed Aug 23 07:51:26 1995

If Tom Ash has been a "significant resource in this investigation," what was his relationship with Valerie? Why was his mail coming to her apartment? What was in the letter?

Response:
Ash was the victim's roommate. They were both graduate students at the University of Mississippi. The letter was from Caleb Fisher-Wirth, a young friend. Without permission from the sender, it would be inappropriate to post the contents.

MAILED Mon, 07 Aug 95 01:40:25 -0600 A few, nit-picky questions.
1-The computer system, being a Macintosh Quadra, seems to have beeen a recent purchase. Any idea when it was purchased?

2-Is there any evidence that she was keeping a diary? Going through the trouble to erase a hard drive indicates that the victim may have been keeping records (a diary maybe) that included references to either of the Giblini siblings or the person in the photo on the refrigerator door. She may have recently switched to typing her diary on the computer and maybe there is an older hand written diary (or notes) somewhere.

3-Has there been a search for hidden floppy disks? She could of been one of the few smart computer users that backed up her information regularly and kept the floppies in another room, or with a friend.

4-You report that there were two keyboards. Why two keyboards? Are they identical? Is one older than the other? Was there another computer in the room at any time? That could explain some of the increase in current. The serial number on the keyboards might be worth looking into.

This is a great idea. I hope you nail the sucker.

Response:
1-The computer was a Christmas present in 1994. The gift was from her parents.
2-The victim kept a journal and diary. She'd maintained these items on a computer for the past several years. We have soft copies from one of her acting journals. All other items are missing. However, data recovery efforts are underway. Expect results soon.
3-No floppies were found. The entire apartment was searched.
4-The two keyboards were electronic piano keyboards. Sorry. Poor wording.

MAILED Tue, 08 Aug 95 20:20:18 0000

Why are there two computer keyboards? Were they both checked to see if one had a defect? If both are okay, perhaps there was another computer that was taken (perhaps a modular Mac like an SE or Classic?) There was also a modem present. Perhaps the victim was an internet user and has an account with an ISP somewhere along with email messages that may have clues. Great Site!

Response: Two electronic keyboards. We've found her e-mail accounts. The lawyers are afraid to release that type of information. As mail, it may be subject to Federal postal regulations-we don't know. The issue is further clouded by the fact that her account is educational-on Federally subsidized equipment.

MAILED 14 Aug 1995 13:47:13 GMT

In addition...the killer bathes the victim to remove evidence then redresses her?? What did a evidence search of the new clothes show...Hair, fibers, blood? Completely clean?? No prints in the blood smears? If the killer is splattering blood about for effect it seems likely that there could be a partial print in one of the splattered areas.

Thank you for your time and for your ear
(How were you able to run a DNA profile on GREG if he has not been in custody? What sample did you use?)

Response:
1-The pajamas were freshly laundered. They were one of the few items that bore no traces of the suspected killer, Greg Giblini.
2-They are several bloody areas that seem intentionally smeared. As if to hide a print.
3-Greg Giblini was a sperm donor.

Response: Personnel changes and several URL changes have slowed us down...but we're back.

1. Many of your readers seem to think that since Valerie was on the Pill, she and her partner were using condoms because of the fear of AIDS which, in turn, means she a.) didn't know her partner well or b.) that her partner was an intravenous drug user. While both scenarios are possible, it's also possible that Valerie had been on antibiotics which can render birth control pills ineffective. So, it's conceivable that condoms were used to prevent conception or perhaps as a guard against another sexually transmitted disease.
2. One reader commented that since Valerie's partner was not gay, we could assume he-->was an intravenous drug user. Big assumption. Not everyone infected with the AIDS virus is gay or an intravenous drug user. Many AIDS victims contracted the disease through hetrosexual relations or through tainted blood (e.g., Magic Johnson and Ryan White.) Therefore, for the investigators to "assume" that her partner was an IV drug user would severly limit and prejudice their case.
3. The fact that a torn condom wrapper was found on the floor does not mean that a sex act took place. It might just mean that Valerie was a lousy housekeeper. Is there any evidence at all (other than the wrapper) that suggests Valerie had sex with someone prior to her murder? If so, what? Was DNA recovered?
4. Where was Tom Gilbin when both of the murders took place.
5. On July 27th, you stated that there was nothing to indicate that Valerie and William knew each other. Yet, on the 28th, you state that the blood-splattered picture on her fridge was "apparently one of William Gilbin." Care to explain?
6. Since Greg left the university for "financial reasons" and Valerie was subsisting on a "small stipend," how were they planning to finance a "long trip" upon her graduation?
7. Even though Greg is only 20, I've yet to meet a college student without a fake id.
8. Is the Tom Ash, to whom the mysterious letter was addressed, the same Tom Ash who got Vaskin Klssoyan to give his "Crime Scene" a home?

Response:
1-I believe you are correct on this issue.
2-Yes, very resonable assumptions.
3-Correct. There is no physical evidence to indicate sexual activity. The torn condom wrapper may be the result of using a condom for storage.
4-Tom Giblini was at his home in California. This fact was corroborated by numerous persons.
5-No explanation. Perhaps it was left by Greg Giblini during a previous visit.
6-The trip was a graduation gift. The victim's parents were not aware that Giblini was to accompany her.
7-Interesting. No sign of an ID. Do you have any suggestions?
8-Yes. Ash has been a significant resource in this investigation. He put us on the Web

Is there a reason you don't post all comments sent to you?

Response: E-mail comments take considerable time to process. Comments added via the add comments page are added immediately.

I'd like to know what relationship valerie had with William?

Response: They had never met.

Mon Aug 21 15:17:30 1995

In the report ,it was said that the victims body was washed of all evidence, then why are the file pictures show the victim in bloody clothes w/ blood on her?

Response: The victim was dressed after the washing and mutilation. It is likely she was naked when killed. No other bloody clothing was found.

Mon Aug 21 15:10:36 1995

It is evident to me that if Greg committed this crime,he did not do it alone. The report says that there were 3 different kinds of dna,the third party not known. The material found next to the victim's bed indicates that there were different kinds of substance abuse, and sexual activities.I presume that those activities were with 2 people, seeming how she was at the bar with the red haired man,and later talked about a different kind of marijuana that Greg was bringing over later.
On the subject of the DNA not matching Gregs, that only leads to the red haired man being the killer, but I think Greg was there and and did not committ the crimes, but rather witnessed them. Then I would presume that Greg tried to tell his brother and his brother took it the wrong way, telling Greg that he was going to take it to the police Greg then got scared and killed his brother.
That only leaves me with two questions:
1-Why were the drivers licenses different from the two witnesses?
2-Why were they both out of state?

Response: Very interesting observations. The dynamics of Greg's relationship with his brother is unknown.
1 &2-The principals are all college students. They come from the region.

Mon Aug 21 03:15:49 1995

This probably has no relevance, but does anyone know what song is being quoted in Greg's letter to his mother? Does anyone know if Valerie was a regular Marijuana user? If not, who brought the bong?

Response: The song is from a New Jersy band called Ween. The bong was the "house" bong. No one has claimed ownership. It came with the apartment.

Sat Aug 19 22:58:39 1995

Too much missing data to give an informed opinion, but... There was no physical description of William. Does he have red hair? William, involved in electronics, would surely know how to zap the computer. Could Greg have walked in on his girlfriend and his brother? If a gun was used the first time, why wasn't it used the second time? What evidence ties Greg to his brother's murder. If his whereabouts (Wms.) were really unknown, how did Greg know where to fi nd him? The clothing the woman was wearing puzzles m

Response:
1-Giblini has black hair and a red beard. Official Miami documents are unavailable to the public.
2-William Giblini was an experienced computer user. He often showed off his original Apple computer with it's wooden case.
3-This question would be better answered by a forensic psychologist. Let me get back to you with a copy of a psychological profile from the first killing. This will shed light into this issue. Don't let me forget.
4-Miami crime scene information not available. (Soon)
5-She was wearing men's pajamas in the photo.

Would be interested in a full inventory of Valerie's purse -- specifically, were her keys found, and if so, were they all identifiable as to matching house, car, etc.? Also, was any- thing MISSING from her purse that you might have expected to find? Great site - thanks!

Response: The keys were in the purse. None were missing.

Hello from Jefferson, MS. Ive met some people here who know Greg Giblini and don't have much nice to say about him. One friend of mine who went to school with him said he wouldn't know a hard disk from a frisbee. I hope this helps.

Response: We've found few people that knew Giblini well. He did not appear to cultivate friendships. Send the name of his ex-friend. I have some questions.

Sat Aug 19 16:24:18 1995

I have only been following your investigation on a sporadic basis but I would like to make some observations. It appears that there may be a connection between the damage to the computer disk and the murders. That leads one to conclude that the perp has some extensive computer expertise. Keeping that in mind it may be reasonable to assume that the perp is now aware that all of this information is on the internet. He/she amy actually be monitoring the developments of the investigation. I would suggest that caution dictates that there be some special steps taken to watch and or protect the people at the data recovery facility and especially Robert Gordon. Whoever is doing the actual data recovery may be in danger if the perp now knows that there is a chance that some of the data will be recovered. Or, the perp may try to break into the facility to steal the disks. I submit these thoughts for your careful consideration.

Response: Thank you. The data recovery is underway in a secure facility. They do considerable government work. There should be no danger.

Can we assume the .38 was never used and the .22 is still missing?

Response: Yes. The .38 had NEVER been used.

Fri Aug 18 16:47:41 1995

1-Greg is only 20. Is the drinking age in MS under 21? If not, perhaps the Greg at the bar (from Chicago) is not Greg Giblini.
2-Also, Lisa saw the man in silhouette from across the street yet claims he was "pretty good looking". I'd question her again.
3-Further, can we assume the .38 was never shot and the .22 is missing from the crime scene?
Great site!

Response:
1-Perhaps.
2-Lisa Wood graduated and left the state. There is no reason to pursue her. She has no motive or desire to commit these crimes.
3-Yes.
4-Thanks

Fri Aug 18 09:15:02 1995

A few questions: What happened to her wallet/money? Who is joey in the phone message? Why is she dressed on the floor - if she was bathed and tortured, why redress her? What happened to what she might have been wearing - wouldn't there be bloodstained clothes? If she were raped, why is she wearing underwear?

Response: The purse and all goods were accounted for. We don't understand why these things happened. She was naked when killed. The clothing was added after she was mutilated in the kitchen.
