DEAR Visitor,

What's the best part of being a detective? Getting called out in the middle of the night, that's what. And that's just what happened to Armstrong and me this weekend.

Around 1:45 Saturday morning, we got the call that the young wife of a local real estate developer found him dead when she got home from an evening out. When we got there, it was a bloody mess. Literally.

It seems Ashley Fontaine and her stepson Grant both returned home around 1:00 a.m. and found Philip Fontaine dead on the kitchen floor and the house a wreck. There was evidence the victim put up a fight, and it's possible he interrupted a burglary. But we want to investigate some more before we make any decisions about that.

In this update, you've got the incident report, some photos of evidence from the crime scene, a bio of the victim, and press coverage of the discovery.

Coming up on Thursday, the transcripts of our interviews with the victim's wife, Ashley Fontaine, and his son, Grant Fontaine, will be ready. And we should have some biographical information on the two of them for you by then as well.

This was a brutal killing and Philip Fontaine made a lot of enemies in his life, so we need to take a close look at everything to find out if this really was a burglary gone wrong or if there's more to it. We could really use your help to get to the bottom of this. Can we count on you, Visitor?

All the best,

Det. Murphy
