[Crime Scene] Were the groundskeepers involved in the tourist's murder?

DEAR Visitor,

Last Wednesday, a German tourist was found dead on the grounds of Rowan Oak, William Faulkner's historic Oxford home. The victim had an obvious penetrating wound on his head and a pickaxe was found nearby.

In this update, we have bios and criminal histories for all the groundskeepers who were working in the area, along with canvasses of Rowan Oak and the Ole Miss Motel where the victim was staying.

In the final update on Thursday, we'll have interviews with and bios of the victim's traveling companions, as well as the preliminary Coroner's Report.

We need you to tell us what happened. Who was the killer? What was the motive? What evidence supports your theory?

There is no "correct" answer. Just submit your short (and humorous?) caption for the crime scene photo using no more than 25 words or submit your theory of what happened and why in no more than 500 words by Sunday, January 8, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. PST.

Visit the Tourist Murder Whodunit Contest page to see the complete contest rules and to submit your entry.
