Greetings ,

Diatom in forensic analysis results

Over the last several days, Detective Armstrong and I have been executing those search warrants we just got. Just for fun, we showed up to search Carter Nichols' place at 7:00 Monday morning. He really enjoyed that.

In this update, you have the inventories from those searches, plus a summary of the preliminary forensic findings on evidence from the Kimberly Pace crime scene.

For Monday, we're using a combination of cajoling and gentle arm-twisting to try to get the lab folks to get us some early forensics on what we found in our searches. If that works out and those findings tell us what we're hoping they will, Monday's update might just also bring an arrest warrant for and an interview with the person who killed Kimberly Pace.

Have you told us whodunit?

Whodunit Contest

Time is running out to enter the Whodunit Contest. If you think you know what happened to Kimberly Pace, tell us and you could win a prize like a Crime Scene forensic t-shirt or another item from our online store.

Just make sure you get your entry in before 11:59 PM Pacific Time this Saturday, November 19, 2011. Winners will be announced on Monday, November 21, 2011.

Rather not write a theory?

You can still participate in the Whodunit Contest by voting in our polls. Tell us who the killer is, what the murder weapon was, and more by casting your vote. If you get all of the poll answers correct, you could win a Crime Scene coffee mug. See the Whodunit Contest page for details.

Discuss the investigation

Do you want some help pulling together those last few details of your Whodunit theory? Or do you want to talk through the case a little more before the killer is arrested? The Crime Scene Community is the place for you. Just post in the comments on the individual case documents or stop by the Crime Scene Forum to share your insights, Visitor.

Yours,

Det. Murphy

There are several ways you can take part.

Anonymous Tipsters are always welcome at Crime Scene, and you don't need to pay anything or even sign up to enjoy a case.

Officers can use their registered Crime Scene IDs to post comments on case documents, see the questions the detectives are answering, and participate in the Crime Scene Community.

Detectives can use their paid Crime Scene IDs to do everything the Officers can, plus they can ask the detectives questions about the investigation and get answers. They also get to see interview videos without ads and can review solutions of solved cases.
