Carter Nichols,
victim's student
|
Detective Armstrong and I had another conversation with Carter Nichols to try to find out whether he had connections to any of the other persons of interest. We also wanted to see what he had to say about some people's suspicions that he might have been involved with Kimberly Pace.
Detective Murphy: So you were not having a sexual or a romantic relationship with Dr. Pace?
Carter Nichols: No! Why would I waste my time with someone that old? She's a geezer.
I also followed up on Arthur Beck's invitation to give me a tour of his garden. What I saw there may help us make some progress in determining whether or not he had any involvement in the murder of Kimberly Pace.
This update also includes canvass of the residents of Cody Matthews' dorm and a preliminary summary of the trace evidence findings at the crime scene.
On Monday, we'll have a follow-up interview with Laurence Bricker and ‒ I hope ‒ some search warrants that should help us get some evidence that will implicate one of the suspects as Kimberly Pace's killer. Plus, we'll have some member-exclusive documents that will summarize the status of the suspects' alibis and show a timeline of events surrounding the murder, based on witness statements.
The Whodunit Contest is now open
Do you have a theory about what happened to Kimberly Pace? Why not enter it in the Whodunit Contest? You could win a prize, not to mention the admiration of your fellow web sleuths.
You can enter any time between now and 11:59 PM Pacific Time on Saturday, November 19, 2011. Winners will be announced on Monday, November 21, 2011.
Rather not write a theory?
You can still participate in the Whodunit Contest by voting in our polls. Tell us who the killer is, what the murder weapon was, and more by casting your vote. If you get all of the poll answers correct, you could win a Crime Scene coffee mug. See the Whodunit Contest page for details.
