Three people found Kimberly Pace's body in her home on Sunday, September 25, 2011: Kimberly's sister Becky Pace, and her friends Cheryl Weston and Jeremy Gladwell. Detective Armstrong and I interviewed all of them at the crime scene.
We asked Becky Pace when she last saw her sister. She told us,
Becky Pace: Last night... I can't believe it was just last night. We went to Paul's opening over at C'est Belle [Gallery].
When we asked Cheryl Weston if she knew whether Kimberly had been seeing anyone, she said,
Cheryl Weston: Yes and no. She's been with Paul Evans more often than not for a couple years now, but he moved out a couple weeks ago.
All three witnesses mentioned Kimberly's neighbor Arthur Beck was working in his yard that morning but didn't seem interested in what had happened. Jeremy Gladwell, who lives across the street, told us,
Jeremy Gladwell: He's just a mean person. He was always after Kimberly because he claimed that [Kimberly's dog] Thoreau messed with his garden. His wife died a while back, and he's been an absolute ass to Kimberly ever since.
