Evidence: Answering Machine Message

On about December 15, 2004, the victim, Denise Hartigan, asked Nicole Barry for a ride from the Memphis International Airport to Oxford. However, a couple of days later, on December 17, 2004, Hartigan left an angry message on Barry's answering machine, telling her that she didn't need a ride and didn't want to see her. "I really just forgot about it after that," Barry said. "I mean, I have a career and a life I'm trying to live. I kept thinking, I don't have time to worry about some fair-weather friend and her family problems."

Audio and text versions of the answering machine message are available.
